There are many programs in which you cananimate in 2D, but what fun is that? Many action video games are presented in the 3D format. Think about it: Tomb Raider, Call of Duty, Minecraft, Civilization, etc. Some 3D animation programs are GameStudio and DarkBasic Pro. To make, for example a human in 3D animation would be rigged with a skeleton, opposed to a 2D animation character, who is simply drawn as a torso, to which interchangeable arms and legs are attached.
